When was the last time you saw a network TV show scary enough to make you cling to your seat? Now, try to remember a show that did that to a whole theater full of people. The River, ABC's new series created by Oren Peli (of Paranormal Activity fame) and produced by Steven Spielberg (of Steven Spielberg fame), provoked a test audience into doing just that.

Hi, jj! I'm doing good and hope you are too. I'm sure your show will keep going. I don't think NCIS has to worry about anything. Hopefully The River will do well from the beginning. How can you lose with Spielberg as the producer and the guy who created the movie Paranormal? Sounds like a winner.

OK, I'll check your post. It sounds like a hoot! lol

God bless you too. :-)

The best horror series I've ever seen! The River puts a lot of horror movies to shame. There are only 6 more episodes left though. I don't know if that will be the permanent end or if they're going to have more episodes next season. It's definitely worth ABC and Steven Spielberg to keep it going.

Sorry, you all. I watched "The River" last night and did not like it, I was hoping it would be like 'Lost 'and 'Off the Map" combined. I was very disappointed in the way it was shot, kind of like "Blair Witch Project"

. I wish it had been shot normal and not so much jumping around. The basis for the story was fasincinating though. But they ruined it for me.

From what I've read about The River, it's suppose to have the same style as BWP and Paranormal Activity. In fact, the guy who created The River, created PA.

Yeah, there was a lot of jumping around and also going back to the past so I can understand why some people wouldn't like it. It was hard to keep up with. I was in it for the horror and suspense. So if it didn't have a lot of that, I might have been disappointed.

I'm sure they'll have re-runs. You might like them better because it might seem that things have slowed down a little. I'm looking forward to them. It's a series that a person would have to watch twice to keep up, IMO.

As I wrote to jeanette, I'm sure there will be re-runs. Most people usually miss an episode or two of their favorite series so it's always good to have re-runs. I'm sure it will pay off for ABC and Steven Spielberg.

I have a feeling that it's not going further than 6 more episodes though. They've probably worked out the ending. I just don't see how they could just end it so quickly. It could go on for yrs. with all the twists and turns. I've never read anywhere that it's a mini-series. Usually a program will tell you that up front. But they said 6 more episodes. If I had thought about it, I would have recorded it.

I'll see if i can find out more about it. If you find anything just post it here, Al!

Glad you liked it! It sure was riveting! Wow!

So go to the ABC website to watch it again... or wait til it comes out on either Netflix, Hulu or one of those other sites.

But they said 6 more episodes.

Yeah and AMC said at first they were only doing the one season of "The Walking Dead" They didn't anticipate the demand. It might end with 6 episodes, or it may end up being longer, all depends on supply and demand lol

Well, considering that Steven Spielberg is involved, 6 more episodes probably means just that, 6 more episodes and that's it. He's definitely one of the best if not the best in the business.

I'll wait until I've seen all the episodes, I think. lol

You're a riot, jj!! lol

I bet Walmart will have a copy, hopefully a good one with all the episodes. I'll find it somehow but it's definitely a must see!

I looked at your link and saw this:

We're sorry, we do not currently have “Harper's Island”.

Be sure to add this series to your Queue to be notified when it becomes available.

Here's this. http://www.cbs.com/primetime/harpers_island/

You can watch episodes from there, I think. I'll still be on the lookout for the DVD though. I remember seeing the promos for it and I don't know why I missed watching it. Something important must have been going on during that time but I don't remember what it was. lol

Thanks, jj!

XOXO!

Yeah, I watched the second episode on TV. I watch hulu every now and then but nothing in particular. I'm really not familiar enough with it to know how it works.

OK, I went to the site. You can watch The River. I've never signed up or logged in but I guess people can watch anything they have. It's free. I'm going to check out the Family Guy episodes along with SNL. But they have a lot of categories. I'll go back to hulu later on today.

There's something missing with The River. I love the suspense and horror but I just can't connect with the characters. I almost forgot:

http://www.hulu.com/watch/329082/the-river-los-ciegos

huluplus is the new thing they're trying to push. But you can still watch it without it.

There are movies and nature shows.

Let me know if you can't get it.

Yeah, I only do free Hulu, if any. Was considering Ja Myung Go myself. They (Koreans) do great drama even if I have to read the captions.

I'm Not much into the other ones you mentioned, but I hope you enjoy Family Guy, and SNL

Watched last Tuesday's episode, and am waiting for tomorro's (today's?) to come out. Its not bad, but not as creepy as I was hoping it would be.

And I am glad to see you've filled out your "about Darrah".

Dull isn't necessarily dull. Routine is what I prefer (though recently... whew), and it is not dull. Any learning is "exciting" IMO, and since you like learning I can't imagine it being "dull"

I missed last week's episode. I'll watch the new one and the others just to see exactly what happened. I could watch the one I missed on hulu, I guess I've lost interest.

If you haven't seen this show, you might like it.

Grimm

Grimm is an American fantasy/mystery/crime drama series that made its debut on NBC on October 28, 2011.[1] It airs Fridays at 9:00 pm ET/8:00 pm CT. The show has been described as "a cop drama—with a twist... a dark and fantastical project about a world in which characters inspired by Grimms' Fairy Tales exist",[2] although the stories and characters inspiring the show are frequently drawn from sources other than the stories compiled by the Brothers Grimm.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grimm_(TV_series)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creatures_of_Grimm

http://www.nbc.com/grimm/

I missed some of the early episodes and just happened to watch it one night. It's very scary but you can miss any week and still be able to understand it. There are reoccurring main characters but each one has a new creature (wesen).

If you watched the series "Caprica" a couple years ago on the Syfi channel , you'll remember the actor Sasha Roiz who plays the the police captain on Grimm. I developed on a crush on him in Caprica. He was the one with all the tattoos even though that's never appealed to me. I guess it's that way he wore them.l ol

I read your bio a couple of wks. ago. I'll have to look again.

Never watched Caprica (was on wrong times/nights for me) but I did watch Battlestar Galactica beginning to end and got friends hooked on it lol.

I will try to check out Grimm. Since I don't know the actor I will have to... maybe even become jealous. Oooh he's only a year or two older than you! Wussy picture they had on Wikipedia, but he's quite something on just an image search lol That olive complexion helps too.

Haven't changed my bio in the past few weeks... at least I don't think so. Brain is kinda mushy... but at least it hasn't turned to snot inside my head this year yet!

That was kind of strange about Caprica. It was a good sci-fi series but it was very different. I liked Sasha mostly because of his character. He had a brooding rough exterior (with the tattoos) but then another side of the character, which was sensitive and caring. But I never googled him or anything. I happened to notice he was on Grimm. I don't know why...lol

Caprica is a science fiction drama television series. It is a spin-off prequel of the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica, taking place about 58 years prior to the events of Battlestar Galactica. Caprica shows how humanity first created the robotic Cylons who would later plot to destroy humans in retaliation for their enslavement. Among Caprica's main characters are the father and uncle of Commander William Adama from the re-imagined Battlestar Galactica.

I forgot that Caprica had something to do with Battlestar Galactica. I don't know why...lol

Last week's episode (Grimm) showed Sasha turning into a bad guy so I guess he can act pretty good.

Actors are tricky that way. Sometimes its as easy as a change of hats, other times their whole body posture changes, but the sound effects are really the key there IMO.

Its like Paul Blackthorne in "the River", he was also in the Dresden Files, the main character Paul Blackthorne as Harry Dresden You'll notice from "The River" the main TV producer role is Paul Blackthorne. Which makes me actually want to watch it.

Again, I will try and watch Grimm :-) thanks for the tip >:D<

Episodes 8,9,& 10 watched. It is much better than "the River". I won't (at least since I started using it) pay for Hulu, maybe I can find the earlier episodes elsewhere. Will check since it seems to be worth it. Thanks for the Tip, Darrah.
